New Nyjer or Thistle Feeders

02-01-2007 - CJ Wildlife introduces the NEW Nyjer Feeder

Historically the Nyjer feeder had a perch and a small hole or slot cut into the feeder tube thus enabling the birds to perch & feed. This tiny slot restricted the range of species that could feed from it and it also meant that a lot of food fell to the ground and was wasted.

The new CJ Wildlife Nyjer feeders have been designed to have a more traditional looking feed port but with a much narrower feed opening for the birds to feed from. This means that the birds can feed much more easily than the conventional Nyjer feeder. It also means that more species will have the opportunity to eat Nyjer seed. This can be very important when birds are trying to get into breeding condition as Nyjer is generally regarded as a tonic type of food. The other major advantage of this port is that it dramatically reduces waste compared to the conventional Nyjer feeder.
